A very busy weekend for Parnells youth which kicked off with under 12 girls participating in a development evening at TCG. Thank you to all involved for the hospitality, the girls really enjoyed this opportunity.

Saturday the under 14s won the under 14 london shield in Ruislip. This was a result that was never in doubt after the first goal when in within the first minute of play. Parnells dominated and were clinical throughout.

The under 12s then took centre stage on Sunday with phase 2 of the league in Northwick park with 2 outstanding victories against both St Clarets and Dulwich Harps. Massive improvements in this team were evident today and they shined in both games.

The 8s and 10s took part in a blitz organised by North london shamrocks on Sunday, whilst we didn’t have the usual numbers Parnells were still able to field 1 under 8 and 1 under 10. These children are starting to really show their skills and this is proof that the training a paying off. Thanks to NLS for your hospitality.

St Kiernans

Congratulations to our U14 team who have reached the London U14 Championship Final after beating the Thomas McCurtain’s on Tuesday evening. It certainly was a game of two halves as St Kiernan’s dominated the first half and were well in front at half time. In the second half we allowed Thomas McCurtain’s back into the game by conceding five ‘soft’ goals which resulted in them taking the lead by a point with ten minutes to go. The boys dough deep and responded well in the final period of the game and came back to win by five points. The final score line was St. Kiernan’s 5-16 to Thomas McCurtain’s 7-05.

The U14 Championship Final will be played on Tuesday, 1st July with a 7pm Throw In at Ruislip so all players are requested to attend training on Tuesday and Friday nights to prepare for the final.

A big well done to all our U8 & U10 players who took part in the blitz on Sun 15th June at North London Shamrocks grounds and there were good performances from both age groups.

Our U12’s played in the blitz on Sun 15th June at Parnell’s with good individual performances and we are beginning to come together as a team.

Tir Chonaill Gaels Reserves:

Our reserve team played two league games over the past week, and came away with maximum points after hard thought wins over Fulham Irish and Parnells.

Last Thursday we played a much younger and athletic Fulham Irish and went in at the break trailing by five points. But the many years of experience and a few extra pounds prevailed in the end with good performances from Hugh Cunningham, Fergus Mc Mahon and Barry McDonagh. Final score TCG 1-13 Fulham Irish 2-5.

On Saturday we defeated Parnells in a high scoring affair with our very own “Peter Pan” Maurice Carr finding the onion bag to separate the teams.

Best on the day were Niall Gilleece, David Cannon and Declan Alcorn;

TCG 2-16 Parnells 2-14.

Juniors:

The junior team travelled to Coventry last Saturday to play the hosts Roger Casements in the Ann Boyle memorial cup.

Although not travelling with a full squad the young guns along with a few minors (water Pistols) fought hard and went down in the end by four points.

Many thanks again to the Roger Casements club for the invite and superb hospitality.

Condolences:

The club would like to pass on our condolences to former player Dermot Gordon, his wife Mercedes and family after the passing by of Mercedes father last week at his home in Zaragoza, Spain. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very difficult time.
