Father Murphys ladies

The ladies junior football league concluded at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday, with an absolutely fantastic final, between Thomas Mc Curtains and St Anthony’s, with the teams almost inseparable throughout the match, early in the first half sides level at three points apiece, level at half time 1-05 each. Mc Curtains edged ahead early in the second half, but St Anthony’s through the promptings of Helen Hughes went ahead by a point, with five minutes left on the clock, McCurtains came back at them to lead by one point with normal time up, then St Anthonys’Linda Quinn netted her third goal of the day to win on a score of 4-06 to 2-09. It was a great game of football and a good warm up for both clubs prior to Saturday’s Provincial Junior Semi Finals, with St Anthony’s in Liverpool and Thomas Mc Curtains at home in Goodmayes.

Holloway Gaels, won their way through to the Mary Feehan Cup Final at the expense of Fulham Irish, in another close and hard fought game, both clubs are involved in Provincial Intermediate Championship semi-finals next Saturday, with Holloway travelling to Edinburgh and Fulham to Liverpool.
