Former Roscommon captain Conor Devaney has retired from inter-county football

Former Roscommon captain Conor Devaney will no longer play inter-county football after he confirmed he would retiring this week. 

The Kilbride man-made 117 appearances for the Rossies scoring an impressive 14-108.

Devaney won two Connacht Senior Football Championships in 2017 and 2019, two National Football League Division 2 titles in 2018 and 2020, and two FBD Connacht League titles in 2018 and 2019

In 2018 Devaney was appointed as captain of the senior team.

He also received an All-Star nomination in 2017.

Brian Carroll, Roscommon GAA chairperson said “ “On behalf of Roscommon GAA I wish to thank Conor for his dedication and commitment to Roscommon GAA," he stated.

"Conor's skill and flair on the pitch was very evident from a young age and that magical left foot lit up many of the 117 games that Conor played in for the primrose and blue.

"I wish Conor and his family the very best of luck in the future and I also wish to thank Conor’s club Kilbride for all their work developing Conor from a young age into the fine footballer he was."
