Former Limerick hurler Breen joins Liverpool as physio

David Breen, the former Limerick hurler, has joined Liverpool Football Club as their new first-team physiotherapist.

Breen will now be tasked with getting players like Mohammed Salah and Andy Robertson fit and ready for the Premier League and various cup competitions that they are involved in.

The Na Piarsaigh native has a wealth of experience working in the field, having worked with some of the biggest sports organisations since retiring from inter-county hurling in 2015. These include the Republic of Ireland men's senior team, Premiership Rugby side Harlequins, Munster Rugby, Manchester City's academy, Wasps Rugby, and the Leinster Rugby academy.

One of the highlights of his career was captaining and winning a Munster title in 2013. Three years later, he helped Na Piarsaigh to an All-Ireland club success.

Confirming the news on X, Na Piarsaigh GAA congratulated their player on his big move to Merseyside.

"Definitely Liverpool's signing of the season. Fair play, @Daithi_Breen," said the Limerick club.

Some fans may have been confused by the tweet, but they humorously responded to their own post by adding context: "Context: Davy has taken up the role of first-team physio with Liverpool, and we're all immensely proud in Na Piarsaigh today," they added.
