Ferguson signs new Brighton deal until 2029

Brighton & Hove Albion star Evan Ferguson has signed a new deal at the club, keeping him there until 2029.

Ferguson joined from League of Ireland side Bohemians in January 2021 and has quickly established himself as one of the brightest talents in England.

Since making his senior debut for Brighton, the Meath native has scored 15 senior goals for the club. He has also become a regular for Ireland, scoring three goals in eight games for his country.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said, “Evan deserves this new contract, and he has a very big future ahead of him.”

Technical director David Weir added, “Evan is a brilliant young talent, and we are delighted for him. He’s shown his ability at both club and international levels after breaking into the team at the start of the year. We are looking forward to working with him and watching his continued progress.”

The new deal will also ward off interest from bigger clubs, at least for now. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and others have all been linked before today, but the new deal will make it harder for clubs to agree on a transfer fee.

In other news, yesterday Ferguson was named in Ireland's final Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands and the friendly against New Zealand
