Everton and Liverpool urged to give Ava White the 12-year-old stabbed in Liverpool a minute's applause tonight.

BOTH EVERTON and Liverpool have asked fans of both clubs to unite in giving Ava White, the 12-year-old girl who was murdered in Liverpool a minute's applause in the Merseyside derby tonight.

Fans from both clubs have been asked to applaud for 12 minutes to remember the 12-year-old.

Ava with her friends on November 25th, was attending the switching on of the Christmas lights in Liverpool City Centre and was stabbed. She was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital after paramedics arrived but died a short time later.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded in secure accommodation after appearing at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

He appeared at the court, sitting as a youth court, charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He could stand trial next May.

A vigil for Ava is to be held on Saturday December 4 at 6pm on Church Street.

Everton's social media pages released a statement and said:

"Tonight at Goodison, we ask both sets of supporters to applaud for 12 minutes in memory of 12-year-old Ava White, who tragically lost her life in the city centre last week."

Liverpool also took to social media and posted on their Twitter account like their blue counterparts with a blue and red heart.

The Year 8 pupil at Notre Dame Catholic College has been described as "unique" and "hugely" popular in tributes paid to her since her death.

Bouquets of flowers and balloons have continued to be laid in her memory on Church Street, close to where she was attacked.

The match at Goodison Park will kick off at 8.15pm.
