Erin King wins Women's Breakthrough Player of the Year at World Rugby Awards

There were a number of Irish players who received different rugby accolades at the World Rugby Awards in Monaco on Sunday night.

Erin King has been named Women's Breakthrough Player of the Year, while six Irish players have been included in the Dream Teams for both 7s and 15s rugby.

Aoife Wafer, who was named in the Women's Dream Team, adds this to her Guinness Rugby Writers Women's Player of the Year award from last week.

However, Irish back-row forward Caelan Doris managed to get into the Men's Dream Team despite barely losing out for the Men's Player of the Year to South Africa's Pieter-Steph du Toit. Tadhg Beirne joins Doris in the packwhile Jamison Gibson-Park and James Lowe completed the Irish representation.

Meanwhile, Men's Sevens star Terry Kennedy has been selected in the Dream Team for the second successive season.
