What have the coaches said?
Rob Page: "I think this tournament has shown every team is beatable. They’ve got a wonderful pool of players to choose from, I might add. Whatever team he puts on that pitch is going to be a tough challenge for us. We’re not just here to give disappointing performances, we want to give a good account of ourselves."
Gareth Southgate: "It’s like any two countries whose borders are together. It’s a great sporting rivalry, there’s no more than that. That feeling might not be mutual but I can understand that as well. I live in Yorkshire and they feel the same about the rest of England. It’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium and we’re really looking forward to the game."
What can happen in the group ?
Wales beat England while USA and Iran draw - The more likely scenario of the two. For Wales reach the knockout stages. Iran and the USA have to draw, leaving Iran on four points and USA on three. Both Wales and Iran have a goal difference of -2 ahead of the matches so a win for Wales would improve that figure and put them second.
Wales beat England by seven goals - This highly unlikely scenario would see Wales move above England in the final league table and is the only way they could guarantee a spot in the Last 16 and not have to worry about the USA vs Iran result.
If England win, lose or draw by a low score- They go through to the next round. England are comfortabaly in the next round without the rubber stamp approval.
