A MUCH improved London staged a spirited second half rally, but Tom McLean’s Derry held on to record an Allianz Hurling League Division 2A victory at Greenford.
Tir Chonaill Gaels hosted a highly competitive encounter in which Derry, inspired by Ruari Convery, dominated early on before London responded.
Despite playing against a strong breeze Martin Duggan’s 26th minute goal for London ensured they only trailed by 0-9 to 1-1 at the interval.
London battled after the restart, but a Liam Og Hinphey goal in the 58th minute edged the visitors’ six clear. Fergus McMahon’s London replied with five late points, but Derry held on to maintain their enterprising start to the campaign.
