Dessie Dolan is set to receive ratification as the Westmeath senior football manager for a second consecutive year, a decision expected to be confirmed during tonight's county board meeting.
Despite falling short of securing promotion from Division 3 of the Allianz League and encountering a setback in the Leinster SFC quarter-final against Louth with a second-half collapse, the Lake County made a strong recovery with notable victories over Armagh, Galway, and Tyrone in the All-Ireland SFC series.
Their impressive run was nearly extended to the preliminary quarter-finals, as they came agonisingly close to triumphing over Tyrone. A moment of near-victory was thwarted by John Heslin's missed last-minute free, denying them win at Kingspan Breffni.

Dolan will be reappointed to his role, joined by Joe Fortune who will continue as the senior hurling manager for a third consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Westmeath GAA is unveiling an ambitious fundraising initiative inspired by the popular Netflix series, Squid Game. The upcoming event, named 'Quid Game', is anticipated to generate over €200,000 and is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 29, at the Mullingar Park Hotel.
