IT was the weekend that London’s fantastic run in the senior football championship came to an end amid many more talking points in another great two days of GAA action.

The Exiles put in a respectable shift in Croke Park but just didn’t have enough in the tank as Cavan pulled away with a 1-17 to 1-08 win to line-up a quarter-final against Kerry next weekend.

Surely one of the talking points of that game, however, will be the incredible open goal miss by Cavan’s Eugene Keating at headquarters.

Watch below what is likely set to be replayed many times over the coming years.

Irish Post columnist Shane Stapleton said on Friday that this year's  hurling championship was becoming tougher to predict and few would have called it that Kilkenny would have been eliminated by Cork yesterday afternoon.

It’s fair enough to say that few were as happy by the Cats loss as comedian, actor and Tipperary man Pat Shortt who tweeted this picture from a pub in London.

Another high-profile comedian was at the game in Semple Stadium to see teh Rebels win, but judging by his view Dara O’Briain didn’t have as good an eye on the action as Shortt had back in London.
