CONOR MCGREGOR has responded to the six-month suspension and $50,000 fine handed to him by the Nevada Athletic Commission for his part in the post-match brawl at UFC 223.
In a noticeably measured response on Twitter, the Irishman expressed his satisfaction with the punishment handed out.
“I am thankful for the Nevada athletic commissions fair assessment and handling of the brawl incident,” he tweeted.
“It was not my intention to land the final blow of the night on my opponent’s blood relative. It’s just how it played out.
“I look forward to competing again soon.
“Thank you all.”

Even then, McGregor couldn't resist poking fun at one of the members of Nurmagomedov's team who tried, and failed, to punch him.

Even so, his comments stand in stark contrast to those made by his opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Russian was handed a nine-month ban along with a $500,000 fine for his part in the violence that followed his victory over the Notorious.
Nurmagomedov sparked off the violent scenes on the night when he climbed out of the Octagon to attack a member of McGregor’s entourage.
Two of the Russian’s team- including the aggressor captured by McGregor in the images above - also received bans after they were picked up attacking McGregor inside the ring.
Taking to Twitter, Nurmagomedov tweeted the words “politics forever”.

He then posted a picture of himself on Instagram, sleeping, alongside the caption “wake me up, when it’s all over.”
There's no love lost between the pair though with Nurmagomedov retweeting a vide of McGregor tapping out to the Russian.
