Conor McGregor's ex-teammate claims Notorious is losing fans in Ireland

CONOR MCGREGOR is losing fans in Ireland as a direct result of his abrasive persona and antics outside of the Octagon.

That's according to Myles Price, a former teammate of the Notorious, who told USA Today Sports that there will be plenty of Irish fans cheering on Khabib Nurmagomedov when he faces off against McGregor at UFC 229.

"There are a lot of people in Ireland that would like to see Khabib win," Price said.

"A lot of people think like me, that he is not really good for Ireland because of the way he goes on and he makes us look bad. There are plenty in Ireland who want to see Conor get a little bit of humble pie."

Price trained alongside McGregor prior to the Notorious joining the ranks of UFC but openly admits the two were never friends.

The pair met as up-and-comers in John Kavanagh's SBG training group before embarking on different career paths.

Price has now come forward to express concern that McGregor's brash persona and extreme outbursts send a negative message to young working-class Irish men.

"It is very dangerous," he said. "It is tough growing up in Ireland and a lot of young lads look up to Conor's behaviour as the way to fix their problems."

A lightweight MMA fighter himself, fellow Irishman Myles was most recently in action against Norman Parke on June 9th, 2018 in Belfast.

Conor McGregor is facing Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 this Saturday, October 6th, in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It will be broadcast on BT Sport 1 at 3am on Sunday, October 7th, BST.
