Conor McGregor films himself buying bottle of own whiskey while not wearing mask in Kildare store

CONOR MCGREGOR has come in for serious criticism after posting a video online of himself purchasing a bottle of his Proper 12 whiskey without a mask on at a store in Kildare.

The UFC star shared the video to his Instagram account alongside the caption “Support local” and the Irish flag emoji.

In the clip, he is seen buying the whiskey while chatting with an employee, who is wearing a mask.

McGregor appears oblivious to the fact he has no face covering on and no one in the video makes any mention of it.

Instead, McGregor appears more concerned with how sales of his whiskey are going and appears critical of the price at which the store is selling if for.

“€35, youse [sic] are charging a bit heavy for it,” he jokes before buying a bottle.

The Irishman then poses in front of the till with the bottle of whiskey and his receipt while another man who, based on the audio provided is wearing a mask, films him.

The footage was captured inside a Gala store in Straffan, Co Kildare and has been viewed more than 2.7 million times since being uploaded less than 24 hours ago.

The clip has been widely condemned by McGregor's followers, many of whom were quick to highlight the fact the 32-year-old was in breach of Ireland’s Covid regulations.

Show respect and wear a mask ffs,” one wrote.

“Show some respect and wear a mask,” another added.

You sure are a champ but you must wear your damn mask man,” a third concurred.

It is a mandatory requirement to wear a face mask in shops in Ireland.

Anyone found in breach of these rules faces an €80 fine, rising to €1,000 or a month's imprisonment if they refuse to pay.

McGregor and his representatives have yet to comment on the incident.
