Celtic Set to trigger option to buy fan favourite Jota

ACCORDING TO REPORTS in Portugal fan favourite Jota could be set to stay in Glasgow.

The Portuguese playmaker has shone for Celtic this season with 12 goals and 12 assists for Ange Postecoglou's side.

The 23-year-old arrived on loan from Portuguese side Benfica and looks likely to make the move to Parkhead permenant this summer.

With Celtic on the verge of winning back the title from rivals Rangers, Postecoglou's side's finances will increase because of it.

When asked about the constant speculation around his future, Jota said: "Not a chance am I thinking about next season, I am just enjoying day by day”, said Jota last weekend.

"It has been a terrific season for me and I am just enjoying getting to know the people around me.

"I am trying to be a better person and a better player and I am being with quality players every day.

"I don't want to talk about that. I just want to enjoy and give everything for this shirt.

"As a football player you need to keep your mind on the pitch, that's all that matters.

"Bureaucratic things are for others, please just let me enjoy my football.”

The looks to change after the Portuguese outlet Jornal Noticias said that the Hoops will take up their option for a £6.5 million deal after the winger made his intentions clear to remain in Scotland

Cameron Carter-Vickers is another loan player who Celtic want to keep, and his future remains up in the air.

There is said to be a similar transfer option in his loan from Tottenham, with the Hoops able to pay £6 million for a permanent deal.

But it remains to be seen if the player sees his future in Scotland.
