FIVE IN A ROW
I think this was an obvious first selection. Last weekend, Celtic celebrated being crowned champions of Scotland with a 7-0 demolition of Motherwell to round things off. Five consecutive league titles is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, even if performances haven’t been out of this world this season. Fans also got a chance to say a farewell to manager Ronny Delia. I’m sure few fans are surprised to see the Norwegian leaving the club this summer, but there was a mutual respect for Ronny, who spoke of nothing but praise for the fans. With one last ‘Ronny Roar’ in front of a packed Celtic Park, he was on his way. I’m sure I don’t just speak for myself when I say I wish him the best of luck in his future. Ronny helped us deliver the club’s fifth title in a row. Some may argue that he “just about” managed it, but in the end Aberdeen finished really poorly and the gap was in fact 15 points by the last day of the season.

Although this happened also on the last day of the season, I felt as though it deserved to take its own place on the list of top moments. When I heard the news that Celtic had invited 140 Syrian refugees to the title party on Sunday, I was so proud of the club. We all know how and why Celtic football club was formed, so stories like these really make me appreciate the type of club we have. The group, which was made up of both adults and children, were lucky enough to take in a thriller at Celtic Park with the children in the group also joining other young Hoops fans as mascots, helping to lead the team out on to the pitch before kick-off. It was a great day for the club and as a Celtic supporter, a proud moment. Incidentally, Celtic had already donated almost £60,000 to help refugees fleeing Africa and the Middle East.

As I’m sure anyone that follows me on Twitter knows, I’m a big supporter of the Green Brigade. Over the past few years they have wowed with some spectacular banners and this year they celebrated their 10-year anniversary. Their banners this season alone have been outstanding and a special mention I feel has to go to their stunning 1916 banner. Imagines of the leaders along with another banner saying “Who dares speak of Easter week” was warmly applauded by the spectators inside Celtic Park. It certainly was a beautiful touch.

It was back in June of last year that Celtic announced that they had been given the go ahead for safe standing in the stadium through the installation of a rail seating system. Now the stadium makeover is beginning with one area quickly taking shape already. Safe standing is something many have been hoping for over the years and I must congratulate everyone at the club for making it happen. I may only be speaking for myself, but I am really looking forward to seeing how it all looks in the first home game of the next season.

How could I mention six highlights of the season at Celtic and not mention Kieran Tierney? After a standout season and a young player of the year award under his belt, not to mention a call up in the Scotland squad, it has been a season to remember for the young man. Starting his career as ball boy at Celtic, one can only imagine the joy felt when he pulled on that Celtic top and debuted for the Hoops. It’s been somewhat of a fairytale for Tierney, who finished off his last game of the season with his first goal too. With rumours of interest coming in from Premier League clubs as big as Arsenal, I only hope we can hold on to a talent like his for a little bit longer.

Why only have five highlights when you can have six? I must break with tradition slightly to add in yet another fantastic moment in our club’s history from Sunday. Breaking a 108-year record, 16-year-old Jack Aitchison became Celtic’s youngest ever debutant after coming on as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s 7-0 victory over Motherwell. But that’s not all, not only did the forward become the club's youngest ever player but he also cemented his name in history by becoming the youngest ever goal scorer with, wait for it, his first touch! An unbelievable moment for the teenager. Here’s hoping it’s the first of many.
