FORMER Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard looks likely to leave LA Galaxy at the end of the MLS season and bookmakers have made Celtic favourites to sign him.
Gerrard, 36, posted a picture on his Instagram account on Sunday evening saying “I will miss you LA”, adding fuel to notion that he will return to Britain once his contract runs out.
LA Galaxy’s season is over after they crashed out of the MLS Cup play-offs to Colorado Rapids on November 6, with the final due to take place on December 10.
That Gerrard will soon be available on a free transfer has bookmakers offering odds on where the former England captain will move to next, and they deem Celtic his most likely destination.
Scottish Premiership sponsors Ladbrokes offer 7/2 on a January switch to Parkhead, while Bet Victor go even shorter on the same outcome at 5/2.
Newcastle are also a short price in the betting, with both the Magpies and Celtic managed by Gerrard’s former managers at Liverpool in Rafa Benitez and Brendan Rodgers respectively.
