Celtic chant is named most famous in world football

CELTIC fans have topped a list of the 'most famous chants in the world of football' with their version of Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough.

The list on the Spanish edition of popular football website 90min.com ranked the Hoops fans above those of Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Explaining his reasoning, writer Mauricio Gasca said the Celtic fans 'make a real party in the stands' when the chant gets going.

"Everyone sings, everyone dances, everyone applauds, but no one is stunned," he adds.

Just Can't Get Enough gave Depeche Mode their first British Top 10 hit in 1981.

It has been sung in the stands at Celtic Park for more than a decade, with the first line tweaked to say 'When I see you Celtic'.

Depeche Mode's late keyboard player, Andy Fletcher, said in a 2013 interview that he was 'honoured' that the Glasgow club's fans had adopted the song.

Liverpool fans, who have also chanted the Depeche Mode hit, came second in the 90min list with You'll Never Walk Alone, described as 'one of the most emotional chants heard in stadiums'.

Third were Real Madrid fans with their chant Hala Madrid… y Nada Más (Hello Madrid… And Nothing Else) while Barcelona were fourth with Un Día de Partit (A Party Day).

Manchester United fans were ranked 10th with Glory Glory Man United.

The list also included chants from fans of Seville, Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge, as well as Argentine clubs Boca Juniors, River Plate, Newells and San Lorenzo.
