Caoimhín Kelleher could join Brentford or Spurs this summer

LIVERPOOL AND IRELAND GOALKEEPER Caoimhín Kelleher looks set to leave Liverpool this summer after failing to nail down a starting spot in Jurgen Klopp's side.

According to reports by The Irish Independent, Tottenham and Brentford are set to battle it out for the Cork native's services due to issues with their own keepers.

Brentford's David Raya is rumored to be on the move this summer, while Tottenham's veteran keeper Hugo Lloris' future in north London is not set in stone after a number of poor displays.

Kelleher has a contract with the Anfield outfit until 2026 and was instrumental in Liverpool's domestic double cup win of the League Cup and FA Cup last year.

However, he has only played three times for the club this year and has been unable to dislodge Alisson as Liverpool's first-choice keeper.

The Independent states that Liverpool are ready to let the Corkman depart once a club is willing to match their valuation of about £20 million (€23m).

Kelleher signed for the club in 2015 from Cork side Ringmahon Rangers in summer 2015 and has been there ever since, but it seems the time to move on has come.

Speaking back in November, Klopp called Caoimhín Kelleher 'outstanding' and also admitted that the club needed a keeper with his qualities.

“Caoimh is an outstanding goalie, he’s our goalie, that’s absolutely great. A club like us, with all the games we have, needs a goalie of his quality, definitely,” Klopp said.

“It’s clear that he has the ambition to be a No. 1, but everything must be right. Being the No. 1 in the wrong club, all of a sudden you look like you’re not that good a goalie.

"Our style suits him very well because he’s really calm on the ball as well, you can involve him in the build-up play. He’s like the blonde version of Ali.”

Liverpool's next game will be against Leicester City on Monday, May 20th.
