CLUB NOTES

DULWICH HARPS

The Men’s team had a walkover against Naomh Padraig last Sunday as our opponents couldn’t field. Attention now turns to round three this weekend against Eire Og where victory will guarantee passage through to the semi-finals. Throw-in is at 4pm on Peckham Rye Common. All support welcome. Know Your Sport 2016 - Only two entrants had Henrik Stenson in the Know Your Sport event and there is no change at the top of the table. Refer to the club website (www.dulwichharps.com) to monitor your progress. Dulwich Harps GAA Club is one of the oldest Gaelic Football Clubs in London. Based in Peckham, we cater for players – Men’s and Ladies teams, Youth boys’ and girls’ teams – in Greenwich, Bromley, Clapham, Balham and a large area in south and east London.

GLASGOW GAELS
The Scottish Men's Championship gets underway this week for the Gaels as both Juniors and Seniors take on defending Senior champions Dunedin Connollys in Edinburgh on Sunday. THOMAS MCCURTAINS
Thomas McCurtain's GAA club held a well-attended family fun day at Goodmayes ports fields in Essex on Saturday, July 16. The day featured underage football and hurling, men’s football and hurling and ladies football as well as Irish dancing, a beer tent, music and plenty of fun and games. See pictures on page two and next week’s paper. Result in the Junior Football Championship: Thomas McCurtains: 1-10, Tir Chonaill Gaels: 1-10. The footballers battled hard and came from behind to snatch a draw, scoring 1-1 in the last few minutes. In what was his last game in the McCurtains colours Barry McHugh took the role of captain and he impressed as he worked well on the inside forward line. We wish Barry all the best in Dubai. The Ladies Footballers were victorious over Kingdom Kerry Gaels in the Intermediate league. Heading into the break the ladies say goodbye and good luck to several players including some of their most influential club members. We want to wish them all the best in their future plans and thanks for all your commitment over the years. Result in the Junior Football Championship: Thomas McCurtains: 1-10, Tir Chonaill Gaels: 1-10. KKG were determined to make McCurtains work for the win coming out battling in the second half to get within one point with 5 minutes to go. McCurtains held on for the win and finish for the summer break on a high. This was the 5th Annual ABC and yet again this year we have seen an increase in the number of teams that we had participating over the four days. We would like to thank our ABC Committee and the Provincial Executive Committee for their hard work throughout the year. Provincial Chairperson of Britain GAA, Sean Hackett, said: “I want to personally thank our fantastic CDAs and in particular, Lloyd Colfer, for all that they do for us throughout the Province. Their hard word was evident at this year's ABC. We are already looking forward to next year and what we hope will be another successful weekend for Britain GAA. Mol an oige agus tiocfaidh si.”
