IRELAND'S YOUNG STRIKER Evan Ferguson could be in line for more games, said Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi.
Ferguson (18) is highly rated by coaches at the Premier League and has already made his debut for the club.
He also made his debut for the Ireland senior side in November against Norway on 17 November, coming on as a 89th minute substitute for goalscorer Alan Browne in the 2–1 home defeat.
Despite being limited to opportunities in the Carabao Cup and smaller minutes in the league, De Zerbi has praised the the Bettystown native and has admitted that he would love to give the young Irish talent more chances in the first team.
Roberto De Zerbi is impressed and surprised by Evan Ferguson's ability:
🗣 "He is a good player, very good. Very young but a very good player.
🗣 "And for me, it was a surprise, because I knew him, but this last period, I know him better and he was a surprise.”#COYBIG pic.twitter.com/MIRoZsyXY4— Kenny's Kids 🇮🇪 (@KennysKids) December 29, 2022
"He is a good player, very good, very young but very good player; and I would like to let him play [more] . I don't know how much time is in the game but I would like to give him the possibility [to play more," he said during the week.
"And for me, it was a surprise, because I knew him, but not [as much as I do in] this last part, this last period I knew him better and he was a surprise."
'I always encourage the young player not only the young player but the younger player more. I want the younger players to not think to make a mistake, they don't have to be afraid, they have to enjoy, to think, and to play."
Brighton play league leaders Arsenal at 5.30 Saturday at the Amex Stadium.
