Boyds claims Scales had one of his worst performances in a Celtic jersey in Rangers drubbing

Former Rangers player Kris Boyd has claimed that he thinks Liam Scales had one of his worst performances in a Celtic game in their loss to Rangers.

Rangers beat their fierce rivals Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox on Thursday. Many Celtic players were not as sharp as they usually are and paid the price for their display.

A loose pass from Scales put Celtic under pressure, and Ianis Hagi opened the scoring with a brilliant strike past Kasper Schmeichel. Celtic never recovered, and second-half strikes by Robin Propper and substitute Danilo compounded the misery for the champions.

This was Celtic's first loss of the season, but the only consolation, if any, is that they are still 11 points clear at the top of the league.

However, pundits Kris Boyd and Neil Lennon slammed the Celtic players for their display.

Starting with Boyd, he claimed Ireland's Scales had a terrible game at Ibrox.

"I think this was the start of it," Boyd said on Sky Sports when asked about the display and Scales wayward pass. "Liam Scales, I think he had one of his worst performances in a Celtic jersey, and that was the start of it there.

“That [goal] kind of set the tone. Rangers were on the front foot asking questions. Celtic really struggled to deal with Rangers, especially in attacking areas today.”

While former Celtic manager Lennon was also harsh on the Scottish league leaders.

"3-0 was no more than Rangers deserved. It's unfortunate for me to say, and I don't say it very often, but they were very good today, on it.

“All the positive play and all the positive players in the game today were in a blue shirt.”

Celtic next plays St. Mirren at 3 pm on Sunday.
