DESPITE getting himself sent off against France as Ireland bowed out of Euro 2016, Shane Duffy generally performed pretty well earlier this summer.
The downward note on which his tournament ended would demoralise any player, and Duffy appears to have carried his erratic form into his club career with Blackburn Rovers.
The Derry native was trending on Twitter last night as his calamitous opening to the season continued, with Duffy now accountable for three own goals and a red card in his last two games.
Some feel for the 24-year-old, but not the ruthless world of social media, where Duffy was torn to shreds by amused football fans, laughing at his expense.
Here’s the best and worse of the online reaction to Duffy’s exploits

If Cardiff get a penalty will they let Shane Duffy take it for his hattrick?

3 - Each of the last three goals Blackburn have conceded have been own-goals by Shane Duffy. Unfortunate.
