Birmingham-Irish boxer to represent England in Schoolboy 3 Nations

A YOUNG boxer is hoping for national success as he represents England at the Schoolboy 3 Nations Championship in Manchester this week.

Louis Regan is hoping to build on his success last month, when he was crowned England Boxing National Schoolboy Champion at 65kgs on the day of his fourteenth birthday.

The teenager sits among a number of champions to have come out of Birmingham’s Pat Benson Boxing Academy, a popular Irish club situated in Digbeth and formerly named Small Heath Boxing Club.

But the pressure is on for Regan as he prepares to represent England in the Schoolboy championships, which are due to take place this Friday and Saturday at Salford City College in Manchester.

The youngster will have to box his way through a semi-final on Friday to find a place in Saturday’s final, where the ultimate champion of the England, Scotland and Wales competition will be decided.
