England's super talent Jude Bellingham could miss the opening Nations League clash against Ireland in September due to injury.
The two sides will lock horns in Dublin on September 7, but interim boss Lee Carsley may be forced to leave out the Birmingham native after an update by Spanish club Real Madrid was released today.
The La Liga giants confirmed that Bellingham has suffered an injury to his plantaris muscle. The statement on Real Madrid's website also said that his progress would be monitored.
"Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid's medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored," said the Spanish club on their website

Bellingham is seen as one of the best talents in world football and helped Madrid win another Champions League and La Liga title in 2024. He also played a part in England's run to the Euro 2024 final, where he scored two goals for Gareth Southgate's side in Germany this summer.
Ireland will begin their Nations League campaign on September 7 against England in a League B, Group B2 match. Following this, on September 10, they will take on Greece.
Ireland's squad for the double fixture in September will be announced next week, on August 29.
Looking ahead to future fixtures, the Irish team will then travel to Finland for their next fixture on October 10. Just three days later, on October 13, Ireland will face Greece again, this time away.
Their penultimate match will be on November 14, when they host Finland. Finally, Ireland will conclude their group stage on November 17 with a match against England.
