IRELAND AND SOUTHAMPTON KEEPER GAVAN BAZUNU has admitted that, despite his struggles at Southampton, he has learned a lot in his debut Premier League season.
Bazunu, for the majority of the season has been Southampton's number one, but the club have failed to pick up any sort of form in the league this year, and as a result, stay rooted to the bottom of the league.
The keeper has only kept four clean sheets in the Premier League this year and had to deal with a demotion to the bench by his manager, Rubén Sellés.
On Monday Night Football, pundit Jamie Carragher pointed out that Bazunu's role in the team was "a big problem".
The club is almost certain to be demoted to the Championship, but Bazunu believes that there are positives to take from the season.
"We've got a very young squad, which can make it difficult. There are a lot of players playing at this level for the first time, including myself.
🗣️ "It's been about learning how to get back up."

"We have come on the wrong side of results at times, with Forest and Arsenal, having really good performances and just not picking up the results we needed," said the Ireland keeper to Sky Sports this week.
"Football is full of disappointments, and the ones at the top who have experienced that disappointment are able to fight back and get up off the ground after being knocked down. And I think that's what this season has constantly been about – learning how to get back up, learning how to be resilient, to bounce back after defeat and after poor performances.
"And somehow keep that level of confidence, and I think, for me, that's probably the biggest thing I have learned this season.
"No matter what happens, you always have got the next game, and you've got to continue to fight and work towards that."
Up next for Southampton is a game against Fulham this weekend.
