YOU MAY be familiar with the name Barry Cotter.
Cotter gained worldwide attention when he signed for Limerick FC, with news outlets from all around the world commenting on his striking resemblance to the Brazilian superstar Neymar.
But sadly, he didn't follow the same path as Neymar, and has just been released by Ipswich.
And to be honest, these days, they don't even look that alike.
It was announced on Monday that he will leave Ipswich at the end of the season, and Cotter has said that he is excited for the challenges that lie ahead.
On his Instagram, he said: "Just want to say a quick thank you everyone in the academy set up for the priceless relationships and wise words of advice.
"I’ll be forever grateful for this part of my career and can’t wait to see what’s next for me! Hungrier than ever and can’t be more ready for my next challenge/opportunity but for now I wish everyone with good health and happiness and the best of luck. Hoping to see the club back where it belongs!"
“We wish him all the best for the future,” football operations manager Lee O’Neill said on Ipswich’s website.
Cotter was born in Ennis and has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level.
