Armagh have failed to overturn O'Neill ban

Armagh's efforts to overturn Rian O'Neill's proposed one-match ban have been unsuccessful ahead of their All-Ireland group stage match against Galway on Sunday, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

The forward from Crossmaglen was facing a suspension for the Carrick-on-Shannon encounter due to his dismissal in the 29th minute of their round two loss to Tyrone. O'Neill was cited for kneeling on Cormac Quinn, leading to the ban.

Despite Armagh's appeal, the original punishment was upheld, leaving O'Neill unable to participate in the upcoming game.

Depending on the outcomes, Kieran McGeeney's team could secure a position anywhere between first and fourth in Group 2. Concurrently, Tyrone and Westmeath will also face each other, further impacting the final group standings.

Armagh, supported by Galway, had requested a change in venue from Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada to Croke Park. However, the GAA swiftly rejected their proposal.

The anticipated attendance for the match is around 10,000, and tickets are still available for purchase.
