Antonio Conte on Richarlison's midweek inteview: 'He said his season was s**t and he's right'

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MANAGER Antonio Conte has agreed with Richarlison's sentiments that his season has been s**t.

Richarlison, who moved to Spurs from Everton for a huge fee in the summer has failed to hit the heights he did for Everton last season.

The 25-year-old has not scored a single goal in the Premier League this season. His only two goals for Spurs have come against Marseille in the group stages of the Champions League this year.

During the week Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League against a lacklustre AC Milan side on Wednesday and an emotional Richarlison spoke to Brazilian media after the game.

Shortly after the last-16 game against Milan the Brazilian spoke to TNT Sports Brazil on Wednesday evening and said, "I didn’t understand. I was playing well, we won against Chelsea and West Ham and suddenly I was on the bench."

“I played five minutes against Wolves, asked the reason and no-one told me why.

“Yesterday, they asked me to take a fitness test in the gym and told me I was going to start today if I passed it. And today I was on the bench, there are things I can’t understand.

“There was no explanation again. Let’s see what he will tell us tomorrow but I’m not silly, I’m a professional that works hard every day and I want to play.

“There haven’t been enough minutes given to me. This season and forgive my language have been s**t.

Conte speaking to reporters ahead of the Nottingham Forest game was asked about the interview on Friday and went on to say that Richarlison's season had in fact being s**t

"First of all, I watched the interview of Richarlison. He didn't criticise me. He said his season was s**t and he's right. His season has been not good," explained the Italian

The Italian then added that he would only pick the player if he felt he deserved to play ahead of the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min

"He had injuries, played in the Champions League and then went to the World Cup and then had a serious injury. He's scored no goals for us. I think he was really honest to say his season was not good. His season has not finished yet. If he deserves to play, I'll give him the opportunity.

Spurs game Forest starts at 3pm on Saturday.
