2024 Six Nations: Ireland will play France in Marseille

Andy Farrell's Ireland team will play their opening game of the 2024 Six Nations against France in the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille on February 2. The Ireland team will play there instead of the traditional Stade de France venue in Paris.

Because of the 2024 Olympic Games, which are being held in France that same year, France's Six Nations fixtures have been moved away from the Paris venue.

The Stade de France has hosted all of France's Six Nations matches, except for their win over Italy in 2018, which took place in Marseille.

The Stade Vélodrome has a capacity of 67,394 and is home to Ligue 1 football club Olympique Marseille.

France is also preparing to host this year's Rugby World Cup, with the Stade de France set to stage the final.

Ireland could meet the World Cup hosts in the quarter-finals if they advance from their group.
