Home of notorious drug dealer John Gilligan seized by Criminal Assets Bureau for sale

THE PROPERTY of former Irish drug lord John Gilligan is being sold off for €120,000, 21 years after it was seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau. 

The 2,616 sq. feet seven beds, four bath Jessbrook property is situated on five acres of rural land in Enfield, Co. Meath and is for sale via REA McDonald on behalf of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

The property was previously subjected to seizure by the Criminal Assets Bureau under the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996.

CAB took control of John Gilligan's assets, including the Jessbrook cottage, the adjoining equestrian centre, and two houses in Lucan and Corduff, Co Dublin, in 2006 following his conviction and sentencing to 28 years in prison in 2001 for the trafficking of commercial quantities of cannabis resin.

Gilligan's sentence was later reduced to 20 years on appeal, and he was released in 2013 after serving 17 years.

The equestrian centre was previously sold in 2014 for €500,000 and renamed as the Emerald International Equestrian Centre.
