SCOTTISH police have an issued an appeal for information following the unexplained death of rock band roadie Robert Kennedy in Dunfermline.
Mr Kennedy, sixty-three, was found unconscious in his home on Wednesday, June 1.
He was taken by ambulance to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy where he later died.
He had worked as a roadie for Scottish Rock band Nazareth for nearly 20 years and was regular in the pubs and gig venues of Dunfermline.
Detective Inspector John Anderson of Dunfermline CID said: "Robert was well known in Dunfermline, his death has come as a great shock to his family and friends.”
At this time we are treating Robert’s death as unexplained whilst we carry out our investigations. We are following a number of lines of inquiry to support Robert's family and supply them with as much information as possible around his death."
The police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the roadie on Saturday, May 28 when he was out with friends in Dunfermline watching the Champions League final. They began their night out at The East Port before moving onto the City Hotel and finally The Brass House where they stayed until the early hours, he arrived home shortly after 2:00am.
Police are especially interested to hear from any taxi drivers who may have taken him home that morning.
They’re also asking for information from anyone who may have had contact with him between Sunday, May 29 and the Wednesday, June 1 when he was found.
A month prior to his death the music lover had been spotted with unexplained facial injuries after leaving a gig at popular Irish bar and gig venue PJ Molloy's.
“We have also established during our inquires that Robert had been seen with injuries to his face after he had been to watch a band called Honk at the Leroy Day Charity Gig at PJ Molloy's on the evening of Sunday, May 1.”
The band posted a statement on their website paying tribute to Mr Kennedy who they referred to by his industry nickname Rab:
It’s with great sadness and a collective heavy heart that we announce the death of our dear friend and brother Rab Kennedy. As all of you serious Nazareth fans know, Rab was a cherished and much loved member of our road crew for almost 20 years.
He was an easy going guy with a wonderful sense of humor who made friends all around the world as he toured with the band. We’re a family when we tour and we just lost one of our family. Our thoughts are with Robert, his dad and his sister Kathleen at this time."
