Thousands of gingers take to Instagram for National Love Your Red Hair Day

GINGER FOLK from across the US are taking to social media to celebrate National Love your Red Hair Day this November 5th.

First introduced by Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti, the co-founders of How to be a Redhead, back in August 2015, it's been celebrated annually ever since.

A day to bask in the beauty of all things ginger, the Vendettis set the annual holiday/event to help empower redheads to feel more confident about the way they look.

To their way of thinking, red hair "is more than a colour, it's a lifestyle."

Anyone looking to get involved in the fiery festivities were invited to do so on social media.

The task was simple: take a picture of yourself and your gorgeous red locks and share the results online alongside the hashtag #LoveYourRedHairDay.

National Love Your Red Hair Day may have only been going for a short few years, but it's clearly found an audience.

More than 4,000 redheads have already taken to Instagram to showcase their ginger locks with plenty more expected to follow in the next few hours.

And while National Love Your Red Hair Day continues to go from strength-to-strength, it would appear that gingers everywhere could soon have a very powerful ally.

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expecting their first child there's a strong possibility that another ginger royal could be on the way.

The news comes after a study revealed how redhead celebrities like Prince Harry and musician Ed Sheeran are making redheads an increasingly attractive prospect to potential admirers.

There's never been a better time to be ginger.
