Michael Jackson tribute show tour of Ireland cancelled

A MICHAEL Jackson tribute show that was scheduled to tour Ireland later this year has been cancelled.

According to the Echo Live, event organisers have pulled the plug on The Michael Jackson HIStory Show, ahead of its Cork debut on May 14th.

Cork City Cllr. Des Cahill first revealed that the tribute show had been canned, stating that “to my understanding, it was the tour who cancelled, not by Cork Opera House”.

A spokesperson for the opera house has now confirmed that Showtime Australia, the production company behind the tribute show, has cancelled its entire planned tour of Ireland.

The tour had included dates in Limerick, Castlebar and Dublin.

“Showtime Australia, the producers of Michael Jackson HIStory Show, have cancelled the upcoming tour of Ireland in May 2019,” a statement issues to Journal.ie read.

“Ticket refunds can be sought from the authorised outlet where purchased.”

A total of 260 tickets had been sold for the show in Cork with ticket holders encouraged to contact the Opera House Box Office on 021 427 0022 for a full refund.

The cancellation comes in the wake of the fresh allegations made against Jackson in the explosive new documentary Leaving Neverland.

In the documentary, the King of Pop is accused of allegedly sexually abusing two men when they were children.

The film has resulted in several radio stations pulling Jackson’s music from their playlists while an episode of The Simpsons featuring a guest voice appearance from the late singer has also been removed from syndication.

Jackson’s family have denied the claims made in the film.
