Galway Christmas market is returning extra early this year

GALWAY CHRISTMAS Market is opening even earlier this year.

An Irish festive favourite, Galway Christmas Market is now in its 10th year, with organisers pulling out all the stops to make 2019 a year to remember.

As many as 650,000 people visited the Market last year, with similar crowds expected this time around.

Increasingly famous for its Christmas market, Galway named one of the world's best trips for 2019 by National Geographic.

With that in mind, organisers have moved to open the market a whole day early, with Galway Christmas Market returning on Friday, November 15 and running through until Sunday, December 22.

That gives the public a whole extra day to enjoy the impressive variety of entertainment, food, and stalls on offer across the Galway favourite.

Carol singing, puppet shows, and live music performances will keep revellers entertained alongside an Après Ski Bar and Santa’s Express Train.

No Christmas market would be complete without a Santa’s Grotto either – or a bierkeller offering cold and hot alcohol for those braving the elements.

All that and there’s a wealth of food options including bratwurst and crêpes alongside more traditional Irish fare.

Located in Eyre Square in Galway City centre, this year features a 32-metre-high Big Wheel and traditional Carousel too.

Open from midday to 8pm, Monday to Wednesday and 10am through to 10pm Thursday to Sunday, Christmas may still be a fair few weeks off but this could have you counting down the days.
