A MAN aged in his 20s has died in a tragic forklift accident at a factory in Co. Kildare.
The incident occurred at a facility on the Dublin Road near to Kildare Town yesterday afternoon, gardaí have confirmed.
It is understood that the man, a Moldovan national in his early 20s, had only recently moved to Ireland and was working at Kildare Chilling Company.
He was involved in a workplace accident at around 2.40pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident involved the man coming into contact with a fully loaded forklift, according to the Leinster Leader.
“He was due to get his first pay cheque the day he died,” a source told the newspaper.
No one else was injured.
Gardaí in Kildare have informed the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and an investigation has been launched.
