A YOUNG Irishman has died in Australia after he 'fell from a height', his friends have said.
Cork native Kristian Crowley, 28, who moved to Australia in 2012, suffered serious head injuries in a fall in Melbourne earlier this month.
Initially, friends had set up a GoFundMe to help pay for the Irishman's family to travel from Ireland to see him.
Tragically, however, the enthusiastic GAA player died in hospital on Sunday, July 23.
Writing on the fundraising page, friend Julie O'Driscoll said: "Tragically our friend Kristian passed away in Melbourne on Sunday the 23rd of July.
"His family and friends want to thank everyone who have taken the time to donate and help.
"We are all more grateful than you could ever know."
On social media, friends paid tribute to the young man, with one saying: "You were taken way too early. An absolute gentleman."
"Salt of the earth," said another.
Ballygarvan GAA, Mr Crowley's local GAA club said: "Ballygarvan GAA club would like to offer our sympathy to the Crowley family on the sad passing of Kristian in Australia.
"Kristin was a brilliant under-age play with Ballygarvan and his loss is devastating.
"To his mom, dad, Leon and Karla, we offer our deepest condolences," the club said.
The fundraising page for Mr Crowley is still running, in order to fund the cost of bringing him home to Ireland.
"Any and every donation big or small will make the world of difference for his family and friends at this heartbreaking time," friends said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland said they are providing consular assistance to Mr Crowley's family.
