Young girl tragically dies after being thrown from ‘exploding’ bouncy castle at beach

A YOUNG girl has died after she was thrown from a bouncy castle that reportedly 'exploded'.

The girl, believed to be around four years old, was in cardiac arrest when ambulance crews arrived.

She was rushed to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead.

According to Sky News, eyewitnesses heard a bang as the inflatable attraction ‘exploded’, sending the youngster 20ft into the air.

CPR

The incident happened at around 11am at Gorleston Beach in Norfolk, England, where temperatures were in excess of 20° Celsius.

The bouncy castle was located on the Lower Esplanade in a children’s play area.

A life guard reportedly performed CPR on the girl until paramedics arrived.

“Several of our teams were dispatched, with the first on scene in four minutes,” the East of England Ambulance Service said in a statement.

“The young female was seriously injured and in cardiac arrest on our arrival, and was conveyed to James Paget Hospital.

“Sadly, despite all of the efforts and interventions, she was pronounced deceased.”

Investigation

Norfolk Police have cordoned off a section of the beach while they investigate the incident.

“Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers,” said a spokesperson.

“A joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), local authority and police has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and a police cordon has been put in place at the scene whilst enquiries continue.”
