Woman who died in Co. Antrim collision is named

POLICE have named the woman who died in a collision in Co. Antrim on Tuesday as 44-year-old Eileen Thornton.

Ms Thornton, who was from the Broughshane area, died in hospital following the incident in Ballymena yesterday evening.

"We received a report shortly after 8pm of a single-vehicle collision on the Cushendall Road," said Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI.

"Officers attended the scene along with our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, however the Eileen sadly passed away later in hospital.

"Our thoughts are with the family at this time and an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances."

Police have urged anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the time and captured any dash-cam or other footage to contact them.
