A WOMAN and teenage boy are in a serious condition in hospital following an early morning crash with a lorry in an Irish town.
The crash happened this morning shortly before 9am on Avenue Road in Dundalk, Co. Louth.
According to The Dundalk Democrat, a trailer being towed by a lorry came detached and struck two pedestrians.
A 16 year old boy has been brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and a woman in her 40s has been brought to St James Hospital in Dublin.
Their injuries are believed to be serious.
A witness who lives in a house beside were the incident occurred told the paper that she ran out of her house when she heard a noise and saw the trailer of the lorry on the footpath and two people on the ground.
She also stated that a car parked up upon arriving at the scene and that a woman got out of the car and tended to the two people until the emergency services arrived shortly afterwards.
Ambulance services and gardaí attended the scene, with an Air Corps helicopter carrying out a medevac to take one of the injured pedestrians to hospital.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána have said they are investigating the incident.
