IT’S THAT time of year again.
With the cold, wet weather beginning to take hold all over Ireland, homes everywhere are set to come under attack from a familiar foe: spiders.
And try as you will, the chances are you are going to come across a few of the creepy crawlies in the coming weeks or months.
They usually pop up when you are at your most vulnerable; when are all decked out in your pyjamas or nightwear, just about to settle in for a quiet night indoors.
There is a scientific reason for the sudden influx of spiders, of course, with October signalling the start of mating season for most household arachnids.
Thankfully a very scientific solution may also be at hand thanks to one inspired Facebooker who had made it her life’s ambition to tackle spiders everywhere.
Her name is Sylvia Crawford and she’s here to solve all of your spider woes in a few simple steps.
It starts with the purchase of a bit of fresh mint leaf and a cheap anti-bacterial spray.
Simply chop up the mind, add it to the spray and apply copiously all around the house.
As Sylvia, herself, attests, the results are quite astonishing.
“Had leftover packet of mint and small amount of cleaner left. Chopped mint and added to anti bac cleaner and filled with water,” she writes on Facebook.
“Sprayed under window sill outside and around the door. I watched the spiders run as i sprayed. They hate mint right enough. Some people use essential oils but i just thought i would use up what i had.”
This could be a game changer.
