A WOMAN in her 50s has died after getting into difficulty while swimming off the coast of Co. Wicklow.
The incident happened at around 12.30pm on Saturday at North Beach in Greystones.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports that three swimmers had gotten into trouble.
Three women, aged in their 50s, were taken from the water.
"One of the women was pronounced dead at the scene," said a statement from gardaí.
"Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Loughlinstown, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
"A second female was taken to St Vincent's Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
"A third female was treated at the scene by emergency services."
