Frightening moment Irish dance teacher gets mugged by Dublin teens filmed on her phone

ON the evening of June 27, mother and Irish dancing instructor Noreen Northrop was visiting Dublin.

Ms Northrop was in the city to attend an Irish dancing competition with some of the students from her dance academy in the US.

On Abbey Street, in Dublin city centre, Ms Northrop stopped on the pavement to film some of her young dancers on her phone as they showed off some steps.

As the girls were dancing, a group of young people walked by and joined in.

They seemed to be having the fun until one of the gang, wearing a black hoodie, grabbed her phone and the rest of the group attacked her.

The frightening moment is caught on the camera of Ms Northrop's phone before stopping abruptly.

She has travelled all over Ireland and Great Britain dancing major competitions.

After the attack in Dublin she was left with a fractured elbow, sprained wrists, damaged ribs and bruises.

Her daughter, Holly Anne Northrop, posted the video to Facebook in an attempt to identify the attackers said apart from the physical damage her mum is left with "a fear that may never go away."

"For those of you that know my mum she is a sweet and strong woman and seeing this and how it has affected her breaks my heart. The names of the people that did this are still not known even though their faces are right here. If you have any idea who they are please reach out to me. Please share and help us find out who they are," she wrote.

They seemed harmless until the man in the black hoodie stole her phone, and moments later as the video ends two others in the group assault her leaving her with a fractured elbow, sprained wrists, damaged ribs, bruises so deep you can still see them today. But more than that a fear that may never go away. For those of you that know my mum she is a sweet and strong woman and seeing this and how it has affected her breaks my heart. The names of the people that did this are still not known even though their faces are right here. If you have any idea who they are please reach out to me.
