AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a woman died following a fatal farm accident in Co. Galway yesterday.
Gardaí believe the woman, aged 54, was tending to cattle when she sustained fatal injuries at a farm near Headford.
The incident occurred in a field in Curracuggeen sometime between 12pm and 1pm.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor.
Her body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
The incident is being treated as a workplace accident by Gardaí and will be investigated by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
