Just when you thought we were finally finished with wintry conditions, weather forecasters in both the UK and Ireland have revealed that the Beast from the East could be set for a return – for the third time.
BBC news reporter forecaster Matt Taylor is predicting another bout of Siberian winds, with parts of Northern Ireland set to drop to as low as -8C.
The plunge in temperatures is set to occur from Thursday 29 March, which could lead into a white Easter in parts of Ireland and the UK.
Bookmakers Coral has slashed its odds for snow over Easter to 5-4 from 4-1 for snow to fall in any major UK city over the Easter weekend.
Met Eireann do not currently publish long-term forecasts and suggest there is a more immediate end in sight for freezing temperatures this week.
