The weather forecast for this week makes essential reading for determining your St. Patrick's Day celebrations

IRISH WEATHER is known for being unpredictable and this week surely won't be any different.

Today in Ireland has been bright and clear, but according to Met Éireann tonight will be cloudy and misty.

For Monday, it's set to be mostly cloudy at first with patches of rain and drizzle to set in. However, some drier and brighter conditions with sunny spells will develop by the afternoon time for most areas. Temperatures to reach highs of 8 to 12 degrees with winds increasing moderate to fresh but strong and gusty at times along the southwest coast.

Monday night will stay mainly dry with good clear spells. Lowest temperatures to reach -2 to +2 degrees with frost.

Tuesday will start mostly dry too with some sunshine to emerge but clouds will increase with outbreaks of rain in the west by evening time. Highest temperatures to reach between 7 to 10 degrees.

Wednesday will be quite cloudy with rain predicted for all areas and fresh to strong and gusty south to southeast winds. Highest temperatures to reach between 8 to 12 degrees.

Thursday will continue blustery and windy too, with showery rain tofall. Highest temperatures predicted as being 7 to 11 degrees.

To start off the St. Patrick's Day celebrations early on Friday, winds are likely to stay moderate with just few scattered showers and then sunny intervals throughout the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

The forecast for St. Patricks day (the most important day of the year!) and the rest of the weekend remains uncertain at this point. Cold air is approaching from the east but at the moment it looks like it will stay mild.

Let's say a prayer it's mild for all the Paddy's day festivities!
