The weather forecast for this weekend is sure to put a dampener on any nice plans

IT LOOKS like the showery spells aren't stopping anytime soon.

The last week in Ireland has only seen cold and icy weather, and it looks like the dreaded rain isn't stopping within the next few days.

Today has been windy and rainy and tonight will stay dry. Temperatures are set to reach lows of 0 - 5 degrees with a slight ground frost to fall overnight. It's also said mist will thicken into fog and become dense in places by morning with slack winds.

For Sunday, the mist and fog will slowly clear to leave a largely dry day with sunny spells. In the evening time, rain will fall once more. Highest temperatures are estimated to reach between 9 to 12 degrees.

Sunday night is predicted to be cold and will potentially freeze over. Lowest temperatures will fall between zero and -2 degrees tomorrow evening also.
