WATCH: Priest accidentally activates filter generator on phone while livestreaming mass

A PRIEST in Italy has provided some much-needed light relief during these uncertain times after experiencing technical difficulties while livestreaming a mass.

Video of the priest performing to worshippers online went viral after it became apparent that he had accidentally left video filters on during the broadcast.

What followed was a service that proved unintentionally hilarious for all those watching on at home.

The video began with the solemn looking priest, dressed in his formal robes, beside a giant cross and altar as the service began.

Things soon take a turn for the comical, however, when animated glitter begins falling down the screen.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the priest is sporting what looks like a space helmet.

It’s quickly following by a string of increasingly amusing filters with everything from weights to flowers appearing during the service.

By the end of the sermon, the priest is delivering his address in a rather striking dark hat and glasses combo.

Something of a viral hit on Twitter, the clip was first spotted by Gavin Shoebridge, who decided to provide his followers with a little levity by sharing the clip.

He wrote: "In Italy today, a priest decided to live-stream a mass due to COVID-19. Unfortunately he activated the video filters by mistake."

The video proved a hit with followers where it has amassed some 290,000 likes already.

"I love this so much,” one person commented.

“I’m not a churchgoer, but I appreciate the effort they’re making for their congregation, despite the fact that they might be technically challenged."

Another said: "I woke up my wife to watch this, she has had to blow her nose twice from laughing so hard... My throat hurts so much. I can't go into our bedroom, I am still giggling and am afraid to wake up our 5 week old son."

A third quipped:  "Technical difficulties won't stop him. He's on a mission from God."

"Laughter is the best medicine. Omg. So funny!!" a fourth joked while a fifth added: "Lord, forgive me for laughing.”
