WATCH: Irish drug fugitive extradited back to Britain to face justice

AN IRISHMAN wanted for his involvement in the supply of class A drugs worth millions of pounds has been brought back to Britain to face justice.

Gary Vickery, 38, originally from Dublin, was escorted by NCA officers on a flight from Lanzarote on Thursday.

Vickery's extradition follows his arrest by Spain's Guardia Civil on October 20 at a bar in the town of Yaiza in the south of Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

Vickery had previously admitted to having a leading role in conspiring to import class A and B drugs with a street value of £23m as well as money laundering.

However he failed to attend court in July 2021, where he was due to be remanded in custody, and a warrant was later issued for his arrest.

He subsequently failed to surrender to the court again at a further hearing in September 2021.

Vickery appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday.

His co-accused, Thomas Kavanagh, 53, from Tamworth and Daniel Canning, 42, originally from Dublin, are both in custody awaiting sentencing.

The pair previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to import class A and B drugs and money laundering.

Canning also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition.

They are due to appear in court again for a case hearing on Friday, December 3.
