WATCH: English man leaves Irish son in stitches while trying to help him with his Irish language homework

THERE aren't many foreigners who can imitate an Irish accent properly, but fewer still who can pronounce Irish words without making a fool of themselves.

As such, a video has been doing the rounds on Twitter of an Englishman trying to help his Irish son with his homework ... and struggling badly.

After letting his son read out a few lines of his school book, the man - who appears to originally be from Liverpool - decides to have a go.

As you might expect, he butchers every word, much to the amusement of his son and his partner who is off screen.

He's accused of sounding French and Indian as he limps down the page, while people on Twitter said he sounded Spanish and even Japanese.

It's fair to say, there have been better attempts, but well done to him for giving it a decent go!
